I’ve been a member of the Independent Fashion Bloggers community for a few months and regularly read and enjoy their weekly link round-up Links à la Mode which features links to posts from 20 different blogs. Up until last week, I’d never taken the plunge and submitted a blog post for consideration for the round-up.
One of the many wonderful things about blogging is the extraordinary and diverse women and men – yes, I follow a few male bloggers too! – you get to meet from literally the four corners of the globe. And from that, the wonderful camaraderie you experience, especially among the 40+ blogging community. Such camaraderie and support was recently offered to me by a fellow blogger and friend – Ann of Kremb de la Kremb, who lives the other side of the world from me in Hong Kong. In reply to a comment I made on her blog, when one of her blog posts was recently included in the IFB round up, she encouraged me to submit a post.
Following that wee nudge, I decided to dive in head first and submit a post and, well, blow me down if I didn’t just get picked! My first submission and it gets chosen. I feel like I’ve scored a hole in one and I don’t even play golf! It was my Polka Dots & Stripes post, all about how to build colour and pattern into Winter Wardrobes.
Thank you to Lisa at IFB for choosing my post to be included in this week’s edition and I’m honoured (nay, over the moon, positively chuffed to bits), to be alongside such an exciting group of bloggers.
Do check out some of the other bloggers included in this week’s round-up; eclectic reading at its finest.
As Lisa Walker writes…
The legwork, or rather the web surfing-work, has been done for you! Gift guides are here. And if you’re anything like me, you’ll want to pay attention or find yourself at the corner drug store buying gift cards at the eleventh hour. I found myself oohing and ahhing over your gift guides. The limited edition beauty products, perfectly curated apparel, and artisan gifts for those in our lives who have everything.
The holiday theme continued with posts on inspiration for an alternative Christmas decor, dressing for the office party, and a little something to fill your kitchen with the best aroma. Cake!
While the holiday posts were prevalent, fashion was not lost. IFB bloggers also covered current trends and designers, shopping best practices whether it’s from your own closet or a retailer, and a creative way to reach out to other bloggers worldwide.
Reading these posts has been an excellent start to this season, and so am really looking forward to more of your holiday themed posts and gift guides as the month goes on. And while you’re perusing the posts, remember to check out our sponsor to fill some of those gift wishes.
