Thanks to Lisa at Independent Fashion Bloggers for including me in her weekly round up – Links à la Mode – and for the first time my photo was included in the 4 that make up the banner photo! Yup, that’s little old me on the end there with my red bag!
I was really chuffed my styling post of How to Style a Maxi Shirt 3 Ways was featured.
It’s been quite a week here at Petite Vix towers, what with attending the The 30-40+ Blogger Meet in London last Monday, supremely organised by Catherine of Not Dressed as Lamb. I’m still glowing in the aftermath of it all by reading my fellow bloggers posts about the day.
I’ll be posting about it this coming week, once I’ve waded through all my photos!
Onto the links…
I really enjoyed Ms.FABulous’s post about the Steampunk Street Style at the Steampunk World’s Fair, held in New Jersey recently (see link below). Both Tall Brown Fox and I are fascinated by Steampunk, not least because Tall Brown Fox watches alot of anime and reads manga, where Steampunk is a big influence.
Last year we went to a friend’s wedding where the bride and groom’s outfits were Steampunk. Although there was no obligation to, they encouraged their guests to embrace the style along with other styles they liked, such as burlesque. Tall Brown Fox did a Steampunk inspired outfit complete with Victorian frock coat and a Top Hat with goggles. Mine was a Dita Von Teese inspired outfit of a wiggle dress, 1940s style hat with a black net veil and red, long length gloves. You can see my black and red tassel handbag on the bar counter behind me!
I couldn’t resist having a photo taken of me wearing Tall Brown Fox’s Steampunk Top Hat!

Lisa Walker writes: A flash of color. A few spoken words. A moment of clarity. Often, motivation comes when you least expect it. It’s that burst of energy that sends you on your productive way. It gives purpose to projects and focuses even the wildest ideas. It makes sense of the absurd and it’s the key to unlocking your next big idea.
IFB Bloggers seemed focused on one main theme this week. Where one may garner inspiration. Art, photography, history, fashion icons, books, subculture, street style, peers–just to name a few. There were also glimpses into the end results of inspiration with Malta’s Fashion Week Awards, creative hair, alternatives to fast fashion, and what engaged French youth can do on limited time.
In the words of Albert Einstein, “Creativity is intelligence having fun.” Glad to read that all you brainiacs are having a good time!

I'm blushing from your two wonderful comments, Sherry. I'm almost as red as the gloves I'm wearing! I'm glad I make you giggle. Laughter oils the wheels of life so much.
I may even do a post now about the outfits, even though the wedding was last year!
Congratulations on your feature! You styled the maxi shirt incredibly, I love all three ways! And the steampunk style definitely becomes you!!
Thank you Natalia. Glad you liked all 3.
And it was fun dressing up for the wedding.
